Community Guidelines

Effective September 24, 2026

The short version: Share recipes you made or have the right to share, credit your sources, and be kind. There is zero tolerance for objectionable or abusive content. Report anything that breaks these rules and we will review it within 24 hours.

Who these guidelines cover

These guidelines apply to the optional Sous Chef recipe community, used from the iOS app Sous Chef: Kitchen Assistant and from self-hosted Sous Chef servers. They apply to everything you publish there and to how you use it.

Your private kitchen is never part of the community. Your pantry, your shopping list, and any recipes you don’t publish stay private.

What you can share

  • Your own recipes.
  • Recipes you have the right to share.
  • Credit your sources: if a recipe is adapted from a cookbook, website, or another cook, say so.

What is not allowed

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. Do not publish or share:

  • Hateful or discriminatory content.
  • Harassment, bullying, or threats.
  • Sexual content.
  • Graphic violence.
  • Content that promotes or involves illegal activity.
  • Dangerous or deliberately unsafe food advice.
  • Spam, scams, or advertising.
  • Impersonation of another person or organization.
  • Other people’s personal information.
  • Content you don’t have the rights to share.

Reporting a recipe

In the app, use Report recipe on any community recipe. Reports are sent to community-souschef@georgevina.com. You can also email that address directly.

We review reports within 24 hours. Content that breaks these rules is removed, and the account that posted it may be suspended or removed.

Blocking a cook

You can block a cook in the app to hide all of their recipes from you. You can see and manage the cooks you have blocked in Settings.

Publishing your recipes

  • Published recipes are public, or unlisted if you choose that option, and other cooks can save copies to their own kitchens.
  • Unpublishing hides your recipe from the community, but it can’t recall copies that others have already saved.

See the Privacy Policy for how community recipes and reports are handled.

Enforcement

We may remove any content or account that breaks these guidelines.

Changes to these guidelines

If these guidelines change, we will post the update on this page with a new effective date.
